So, we slept at The ‘G.

Chris Tim & me, at the MCG.

Well, we did it.

Last Thursday night (May 14th), my pals Chris, Tim & I (collectively known as ‘The Disciples of Gary‘) completed Melbourne City Mission’s Sleep At The ‘G fundraising event, to help raise funds to combat youth homelessness. The night wasn’t all that cold – it only got down to 11° – but that concrete floor was just as hard as ever.

Oh sure, we’re all smiles at 10 PM…

And after waking up at 3 AM and not being able to get back to sleep…

I’m in there somewhere underneath all that.

… It was a very groggy – and slightly grumpy – start to Friday.

Yeah, not quite so chipper now, am I?

I’m proud to say that our team raised $1,445 (so far), of which my share was $668, so thank you so much to those who donated to the cause. I think the website is still active if you’d like to make a donation now… so why not pop on over there and see if that’s still do-able? At 9:30 on Thursday night, the event had raised over $630,000…
… and hopefully the final figure will be more than that.
Coming home after the event and having a shower and falling into bed, I reflected on how very fortunate I am to be able to do such a thing; how lucky I was that my chilly, sleep-deprived discomfort was only temporary. Sadly, for many of our brothers and sisters, this isn’t the case. So again, if you’re in a position to make any little donation, here’s that website again; https://www.sleepattheg.com.au/fundraisers/stephenhall/the-event.
Thanks for your attention, and I’ll see you back here next time… For something that I promise will be a lot more game show-related!
Cheers,
Stephen.
