HNY from HTWGS!

JANUS HEAD #2: So, how was 2024? JANUS HEAD #1: Meh. How’s 2025 looking? JANUS HEAD #2: Too soon to tell. JANUS HEAD #1: What do you mean, “Too soon to tell”? Aren’t you supposed to be able to – ? Then what on earth is the POINT of you? JANUS HEAD #2: Rude. Typical 2024 attitude.

Hello everyone, and welcome to the annual Happy New Year post from HowToWinGameShows.com!

Looking back, 2024 kicked off with my Mastermind Australia adventure, which I chronicled (in no small detail) here for the site… and I was pleased to snaffle a couple of great interviews – with Miles Glaspole and Pamela Hill – during the year as well.

And now, as we near 2024’s end, I’ve been thinking about the future of this site. It’s now 11½ years old, and over the years it’s continued to grow and evolve – at one stage, I was trying to post once a week, but that level of frequency is now very much a thing of the past. I’ve always viewed HTWGS.com as a hobby (a really fun hobby!) and hopefully a reference point and resource for people who are interested in game shows.
Like you.

To be honest, I’m not 100% sure what the future holds for the blog. I do have another big in-depth interview lined up… but I also recently received an email that reminded me of one of the key reasons I created the blog. It was an utterly delightful message from serial game show contestant Caitlin McDowell (who I’ve profiled before), thanking me for some of the articles and interviews in the archives here. Prior to her various game show appearances, Caitlin had been using this site as a resource, going back and reading various articles and interviews with contestants, winners and behind-the-scenes personnel on the shows she was applying for…

Which is my cue to remind you of the resources available to you here at HowToWinGameShows.com!

Firstly, there’s the Search bar. If you’re interested in applying for – or even just learning about – a certain show, I suggest typing its title into the grey Search bar on the top right side of the screen (circled, below), or the white Search bar that’s a bit further down on the right side (also circled, below).

Why I have two search bars on the page (that both do exactly the same thing), I don’t know.

With 11½ years’ worth of posts here (478 of ’em, in total!), the odds are that I may have written about your particular show, or spoken to someone involved in its production. It certainly can’t hurt to look!
BUT you can also look through ALL the content on the site, arranged by Categories…

If you click on any of the categories, you’ll get a list of posts relevant to that particular concept or show. And these categories don’t only cover the show’s titles, they also include broader topics, such as “Auditioning”, “Strategy” and “Question Writing”, to name just three.

And of course in addition to all the info permanently stored on the site, there’s also my eBook How To Win Game Shows…

… which you can pick up at Amazon, Kobo and various other places for just $4.99 AUD!

And that’s about it from me in 2024. See you next year, and if you’re celebrating tonight, have fun and be safe. And may 2025 be a happy, healthy and prosperous year for you and your loved ones!

Sincerely,
Stephen
