Hello. This week’s post is only tangentially related to game shows and how to win them. It’s more about the preparation for going on game shows, and the mindset and attitude required to win them. In game shows, as in any other competitive endeavour, a large part of any winner’s success comes down to their attitude, their preparation and their mental toughness. This has been discussed at length before here on www.HowToWinGameShows.com, in posts such as this… this… and this.
Now, you may remember a few weeks ago, in this post, I shared the story of my preparation for an audition. This was a big audition. In fact, it was the biggest audition of my life. In the post, I outlined all of the homework I did, all the positive self-talk I did, and my techniques for staying on top of my game on the big day. As it was, I walked away from the audition thinking “Oh well, whether I get it or not, I brought my A-Game today. I didn’t leave anything in the tank, and if I had to do it all again, I wouldn’t do anything differently.” The audition was on Saturday 20th February, and I received a call from my agent late on Tuesday 23rd February, letting me know… that I had won the part.
I was sworn to secrecy until the details were announced publicly, but now that they have been, I can let you know that in the upcoming world première theatrical season of Fawlty Towers Live, written by John Cleese, I will be playing the role of Basil Fawlty.
To say I’m excited is an understatement. To be playing this hilarious beloved character, in the hilarious beloved show, and working with one of my all time heroes really is a dream come true. It’s a little bit daunting, but so thrilling, and I CAN NOT WAIT TO START. What an honour.
It just goes to show the power of Preparation, Preparation and more Preparation!Tweet
