Game show news update 6

Twenty fourteenHello everyone. Firstly, sorry to take so long between posts, but some very sad personal business has been taking a huge amount of my time and energy over the last few weeks.

But the world continues to turn, life goes on, and our mission here at www.howtowingameshows.com remains the same as ever; to bring you as much information – and as many tips and hints as possible – to help you in your quest to join the ranks of game show winners, wherever you may be!

So let’s begin this year with one of our occasional Game Show News round-ups…

First up, this news that Simon Cowell (of Pop Idol fame) is set to launch a new UK family-based game show, entitled Keep It In The Family. It’s said to be a rebooted version of the classic 70s game show The Generation Game, which ran from 1971 – 1982, and from 1990 – 2002. But perhaps the most interesting thing about the article is that it contains a youtube clip of Simon Cowell’s TV debut as a Sale of the Century contestant in 1990! Well worth a look.

A new NBC reality show to choose the next manager of NHL team The Buffalo Sabres? Quite a niche market, I would have thought. How many people will be putting their hands up to be a contestant on that one? Make sure you read this article right through to the end. If you read it at all.

The way of the future? Earlier this month, UK telecom BT staged a livestream game show on Twitter, encouraging entrants to tweet and and play the Price Is Right-style game in real time. An interesting, “anyone-can-play” idea, which we may be seeing more of in the future. Although it’s not an actual game show, taking part in one of these certainly couldn’t hurt your game show skills…

And finally, here’s an interview with a serial game show contestant auditioner, whose dream is to one day make it into the Big Brother house. He hasn’t had a huge amount of success so far, but I did like his tip about befriending former Big Brother housemates on Facebook, and following them for any tips that they may have!

Well, that’s about it for this brief Game Show News round-up, but in the coming weeks we’ll have more game show winner interviews, and I’ll take you through exactly what happens after you win big on a game show (that part often seems to get left out of the story for some reason).

There’s all that, and heaps more in store for 2014, so remember to check back in regularly to www.howtowingameshows.com!
